Fatties wander down I-5

01Apr08

El Compadre Castle Rock Snow On a recent trip down South, (stay tuned for details tomorrow…) we stopped for taquitos in the springtime snow at El Compadre. Located just off I-5 in Castle Rock, Washington, the sign boasted the food was “muy bueno” and who are we to argue with a sombrero-tossing, fast-talking jalapeño. We arrived to find native Mexicans chowing down, instantly proving we had the real deal. While it’s not quite Cat Herder’s preferred burrito preparation – a tortilla crammed with questionable meat by-products (like donkey balls, pig snouts and cow entrails) being served from upturned trash cans behind a 76 station. Nonetheless, with piles of fresh chips and guac, we proclaim this was good Mexi-chow. Sure, there weren’t but 3 other options off this exit, but the food was enjoyable and the service keen.

Next up… where the hell did the fatties go?
